Valarie Spragins announces retirement and new owner of VSS Dance

South Jackson, Tennessee (State) – VSS Dance, a cornerstone of the West Tennessee dance community, announces the retirement of its visionary founding director and owner, Valarie Spragins, effective August 12, 2024. Ms. Spragins founded VSS Dance in 1986 with just eight students and has since dedicated over 38 years to fostering and growing the organization into a thriving center for dance education.

Under Valarie’s leadership, VSS Dance flourished, culminating in the establishment of its state-of-the-art facility in South Jackson. This location has become a beacon for aspiring dancers throughout West Tennessee, providing a comprehensive environment to explore and master the art of dance.

“It is my heartfelt desire that VSS Dance continues to expose and inspire more young students to the beautiful art form of dance,” said Valarie Spragins. Her legacy of dedication and passion will continue to inspire generations of dancers.

Effective August 12, 2024, Grayson Hart, current office manager and musical theater teacher, will assume not only the role of artistic director, but also the new ownership of VSS Dance. Grayson’s appointment and ownership marks a new chapter for VSS Dance, as he brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to the studio’s mission.

“I am so honored and excited to carry on the legacy of VSS Dance and Valarie Spragins to future generations,” said Grayson Hart.

Grayson Hart is a dedicated member of the VSS Dance family, serving as Office Manager and Musical Theatre Instructor. With his background in the performing arts, Grayson brings a unique blend of creativity, administrative skills, and a deep passion for the stage to his new role as Artistic Director and Owner. He has worked closely with students of all ages, instilling in them a love of the performing arts, and ensuring that VSS Dance remains a welcoming and inclusive environment. With his new chapter, Grayson is determined to continue the legacy of excellence that was the hallmark of VSS Dance under the leadership of Valarie Spragins.
