Roller coaster “Fast & Furious” opens in 2026

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, an outdoor roller coaster, will open in 2026 at Universal Studios Hollywood near Los Angeles, California. The attraction will be the park’s first major outdoor roller coaster (aside from Flight of the Hippogriff, a children’s roller coaster at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter).

Universal builds the Fast & Furious roller coaster with consideration for its neighbors’ residential areas (not to mention its own active productions on site), takes noise control measures, and strategically positions the track to redirect riders’ screams away from undesirable areas.

The roller coaster’s vehicles will rotate 360 degrees as they are “catapulted along an aerial track that winds across portions of the theme park,” as Universal described in May 2024.

We recently checked out the construction progress of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift to see how the new attraction is coming along. All photos were taken on August 7, 2024.
