SINGAPORE – A 20-year-old man was found lying on the floor of a taxi rank in Terminal 1 of Changi Airport on Saturday (March 23) after apparently falling from a higher floor in the same building.

The Straits Times reported that police were notified of a fall from a height at the site at around 4.10pm. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also received an alert around the same time and found the man lying on the ground when the ambulance arrived.

According to 8world, the man is believed to be a foreigner who was conscious when the SCDF arrived. He was then taken to Changi General Hospital.

When a reporter from the Chinese website visited the scene of the incident, he found that one of the metal handrails at the taxi stand was bent, apparently by the force of the man who fell.

A user on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu also shared a photo of the man lying face down between the handrails. The photo has since been deleted.

Another Xiaohongshu user, Rainy, told the English daily that she was chatting with a friend on level two in Terminal 1 when they heard a loud noise. When she looked over, she saw the man lying on the floor one level below.

Speaking to 8world, a woman known only as Ms Wu said she heard another witness say that the man who fell had reached over the glass barrier with his hands outstretched to take a photo from the floor above and accidentally tripped over the barrier, causing the fall.

A spokesman for Changi Airport Group said Yahoo Southeast Asia, “The citizen was taken to Changi General Hospital by the SCDF. Police are currently investigating the incident.”
