SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3: The Ending Explained

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers for SEAL Team, Season 7, Episode 3, “Ships in the Night.”

Summary

  • The Bravo Team works with the DEA to gather information on the Chinese crime syndicate Sai Lou and prove themselves in
    SEAL Team
    Season 7, Episode 3.
  • Drew reluctantly moves to Bravo full-time and uncovers mysterious family scandals and his father’s political connections.
  • Sonny’s attack on Colonel Decker comes to light during an investigation and may have implications for later episodes.

SEAL Team Season 7 is back with episode 3, and although the hour is mostly just filler, some important things came out of the episode, including further suspicions surrounding the newest Bravo member, Drew Franklin. Created by Benjamin Cavell, Paramount+’s military drama follows Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) and his Bravo Team, a sub-unit of an elite Navy SEAL unit, the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group. SEAL Team Season 7 will consist of 10 episodes and will mark the final outing of the Paramount+ show as fans prepare to say goodbye to Jason, Ray, Sonny, Lisa and the other characters.

As some may remember, SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 2 ended with Jason continuing to struggle with his traumatic brain injury (TBI) after killing a man in self-defense during the terrorist attack in Sweden, but little progress is made in treating the condition in the third hour. Elsewhere the investigation into the attack on General Decker (formerly known as Colonel Decker) begins to catch up with Sonny Quinn after Episode 2. Also, as mentioned above, more about Drew is revealed in SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3. However, it is still largely a mystery waiting to be solved.

An overview of the Bravo team’s mission in Bangkok

Bravo Team in SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3

Bravo receives good news at the beginning of the SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3 – The command sends them back into action. However, their first mission is risky. Jason, Ray, Sonny, Omar, Drew and the rest of the team Partnership with the DEA for a joint task force on the Sai Lou, a Chinese crime syndicate involved in drug trafficking (and supported by the government). The team is sent to the American consulate in Bangkok, Thailand, from where they operate throughout the Golden Triangle.

Before they leave, however, Lisa Davis expresses her concern that Bravo is doomed, which may or may not be true. Nevertheless, they press on and arrive in Bangkok, where the DEA informs them of their mission – to gather information on Sai Lou by infiltrating one of the group’s ships docked near Heron Reef in the South China Sea. However, since they are on Chinese territory, Bravo has to be extra careful not to get caught (and inadvertently start a war with China).

Bravo completes his mission and proves to the command that they still have what it takes to be the best in
SEAL Team
Season 7, Episode 3, “Ships in the Night”.

The mission is relatively successful, but The SEALs run into a bit of a problem when Jason, Omar and Sonny are almost hit by a patrol boat. Luckily, Drew is quick on his feet and drives one of the ship’s vehicles into the water, distracting the patrol boat and allowing everyone to escape in one piece (and there are no major deaths in SEAL Team Season 7, so far). Bravo fulfills its mission and proves to Command that they still have what it takes to be the best in SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3, “Ships in the Night”.

After being reprimanded for their actions in Sweden (even though they saved hundreds of lives), The command decides to give Bravo another chance, SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3, by sending them to Asia. Naturally, they are skeptical about their new mission. However, they can’t wait to get back into the field, so they accept (as if they had a choice).

Also: Captain Walch, played by Dylan Walsh, in the cast of SEAL Team Season 7, admits that he wants to see first-hand what Bravo can do. Since Captain Walch is new, he wants Jason’s team to prove themselves to him, which is one of the reasons he assigns them the mission. It also helps that Bravo is the only available team since all others are already in use.

Drew joins Bravo full-time

Drew is upset about his permanent move to Bravo

Beau Knapp as Drew Franklin in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 3 (2)

To no one’s surprise, Commander Eric Blackburn informs Drew that command has assigned him to Bravo full-time, which means massive changes for Bravo Team. SEAL Team Season 7 keeps coming back. Drew counters that he is “committed” to an intensive pro-dev program, but Blackburn accuses him of trying not to be part of a team. Drew doesn’t have much of a choice, so he joins Bravo as soon as possible, much to his dismay. While Sonny and Omar try to get him to open up during the lesson, Drew is still a closed book, but that could change very soon.

More information about Drew’s family and past will be revealed

Drew’s father is Senator

Towards the beginning of the story in SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 3, journalist Chelsea Wallen, who Drew’s sister warned him about, approaches him in a cafe and tries to ask him about his family. According to her, the Franklins have been a “mainstay in American business and politics” since the 19th century. So Chelsea does a piece on the family’s history, which is apparently riddled with scandals, including incest, drug abuse, corporate malfeasance, and Satanism, and She wants Drew to be her informant.

Paramount+ releases new episodes of
SEAL Team
Season 7 airs Sundays at 12:00 a.m. PT. The series finale is scheduled for October 6, 2024.

According to the journalist, many questions revolve around Drew’s mother and Drew cut ties with his family at 19. Unfortunately, not much more is revealed about his family. Later, however, Drew tries to threaten Commander Blackburn with the knowledge that his father is a senator after learning that he would be joining Bravo full-time. Also, at the end of SEAL Team In Season 7, Episode 3, Jason tells Drew that he “knows what happened to him in his past,” which further adds to the mystery surrounding Drew’s character. Something traumatic happened to Drew, and viewers will no doubt learn more as the season progresses.

Sonny’s attack on Decker catches up with him

It’s only a matter of time before Sonny gets caught

As some may recall, Sonny punched Colonel Decker after learning that he was responsible for the failed mission in Mali. Unfortunately for Sonny, an investigation into the attack is currently underway in SEAL Team Season 7, and he believes he has been discovered when the staff invites him to a meeting in Episode 3. When Sonny gets there, however, they tell him that they want to assist him in developing a new first aid kit for the Navy after he designed one during a previous mission. While Sonny gets off unscathed in Episode 3, he will likely be caught in front of SEAL Team Season 7 ends.
