Ben Higgins from The Bachelor explains why he is “afraid” of becoming a father to a girl

As Ben Higgins is preparing for his new journey as a father, the former Bachelor Star admitted he is “afraid” of becoming a father to a girl with his wife Jessica Clarke.

“With a girl, I have 1,000 worst case scenarios in my head and I know she’s going to break my heart,” said 35-year-old Higgins We weekly exclusively on Monday, August 19, ahead of the Famously Average Golf Tournament, hosted by iHeartRadio’s Ben & Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast. “She’s going to break (my heart) because it’s so full.”

Higgins recalled that he had recently “seen a show” and “two little girls” ran to their father, who had just come home from the war.

“I can’t imagine walking in the door and seeing my little girl running up to me and saying, ‘Daddy, you’re home.’ It just blows me away, and it makes me excited, and it makes me feel everything,” he said. “I know I’m going to feel everything, and that’s what I’m so worried about, what it’s going to do to me.”

Higgins fears that as a father he will be “forever a pile of tears and mush.”

“It was literally a joke in my family,” he said. “I’ve always been very sensitive and not in a good way. Always. I’m very emotional. I’m a crybaby.”

Higgins and Clarke, 29, announced on Sunday, August 18, that they are expecting their first baby together after two years of marriage.

“We planned this and didn’t know how many steps we had to take. We didn’t know how much help we would need,” Higgins said Usand revealed that they had undergone intrauterine insemination (IUI) before Clarke became pregnant. “We have a lot of friends who struggle with infertility and who have struggled through the process, and when we heard and learned from them, we knew we wanted to plan and be ready. … We set that date and started trying, and it went easier for us than we expected.”

Higgins said he and Clarke “feel really lucky” and are “really excited” to start this next chapter of their relationship.

The former Bachelor Nation star gushed that his wife’s “mama bear instinct” has already kicked in. Higgins noted that Clarke “never feels great” but has maintained a positive attitude throughout the pregnancy.

“She’s still in good spirits and sees it as a gift and a blessing that she’s pregnant,” he explained. “It’s so crazy because if I was pregnant I could never do it. Seeing how grateful she was throughout this whole process was really educational for me. I learned a lot from her.”

While they are keeping their daughter’s name secret for now, Higgins revealed that he and Clarke are planning a Winnie-the-Pooh-themed nursery.

“Your design, my work,” he said Us. “We both love Winnie the Pooh. In fact, we had two of my best friends from home read Winnie the Pooh quotes in our vows during our wedding.”
