Everything we know so far

The Virginia Tech football team opens the 2024 season in 11 days at Vanderbilt against the Commodores in Nashville. It’s the first of four consecutive non-conference games for Brent Pry’s team to start the season before their eight-game ACC schedule begins Sept. 27 at Miami with an early conference showdown between two teams with high expectations.

As for the Hokies’ 2025 schedule, the 12 opponents are already set, with some dates already confirmed, while the ACC roster, aside from their annual battle with Virginia, will be announced at a later date. With that in mind, here are the opponents for the 2025 season and everything we know so far.

The Hokies will play seven of their 12 games at Lane Stadium in 2025, and the schedule also includes two SEC opponents. The remaining ACC games, other than Virginia, will be announced at a later date, likely in early 2025.

August 31 or September 1: against South Carolina, in Atlanta
6 September: against Vanderbilt
13 September: against Old Dominion
20 September: against Wofford
29 November: in Virginia
To be announced: at Florida State
To be announced: at Georgia Tech
To be announced: at North Carolina State
To be announced: vs. California
To be announced: against Louisville
To be announced: against Miami
To be announced: against Wake Forest

It’s certainly an interesting schedule with two SEC opponents starting the season back-to-back before two games against Old Dominion and Wofford. The ACC schedule will be significantly more challenging than this season, as FSU, NC State and Louisville are back on the schedule after inflicting their three conference losses on the Hokies in 2023. Miami and Virginia are annual opponents in the new schedule model and after visiting Stanford, one of the three new ACC members this season, California is on the schedule in 2025 when they visit Blacksburg.
