Ashley Blazer Biden was born on June 8, 1981, in Wilmington, Delaware, to teacher Jill Biden and U.S. Senator Joe Biden. She is the half-sister of Beau Biden, Hunter Biden and Naomi Biden, her father’s children from his first marriage to Neilia Hunter. Biden was raised in the Catholic faith and attended Wilmington Friends School and Archmere Academy in Delaware.

Training and career

Biden graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology in 2003. She earned her master’s degree in social work from the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania in 2010.

Biden worked as a social worker and career development and education liaison in the Education Office of the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families. She developed programs for children in the juvenile justice system, foster care, and mental health settings. From 2014 to 2019, she served as executive director of the Delaware Center for Justice.

In 2019, Biden left her job at the Delaware Center for Justice to work on her father’s presidential campaign. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania.

Fashion and activism

In 2017, Biden unveiled the Livelihood Collection, an ethical fashion brand, at New York Fashion Week. The brand partnered with Gilt Groupe and Aubrey Plaza to raise money for community programs focused on eliminating income inequality in the United States.

As a child, Biden learned that cosmetics company Bonne Bell tested its products on animals. She wrote a letter to the company, urging it to change its policy on animal testing. She later became involved in dolphin conservation and inspired her father to work with Congresswoman Barbara Boxer to draft and pass the Dolphin Protection Consumer Information Act of 1990.

Personal life

In 2012, Biden married Howard Krein, an ENT doctor and plastic surgeon from Philadelphia. The couple has no children together.
