Since announcing the release of her eighth studio album earlier this year, Beyoncé has rarely appeared in a look that does not contain an obvious nod to Cowboy Carter. A cowboy hat here, a bolo tie there, and two frontier-style fringes everywhere. The Western revival, it seemed, had completely overtaken Queen B’s wardrobe. But Beyoncé, ever the shape-shifter, reminds us that she’s still able to pull off any look she wants – cowboy boots or whatever.

During an outing in Brooklyn on Sunday, Beyoncé ditched the Western outfit and opted for a retro touch. Her outfit featured a swirling pattern in lime green, black, brown and white, with the psychedelic print covering wide-leg pants, a headscarf and a crossbody bag. She grounded the look with black accents, including a crew-neck blouse, a casual blazer and shiny pumps. As a finishing touch, the singer completed her outfit with black sunglasses and a gold name necklace.

BACKGROUND

The Texan native has been embracing her roots in clothing for the past year, around the time she announced Cowboy Carter in February.

“This album was over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience I had years ago when I didn’t feel welcome… and it was very clear that I wasn’t,” she later wrote in an Instagram post. “But because of that experience, I dug deeper into the history of country music and studied our rich music archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world while also amplifying the voices of some people who have dedicated so much of their lives to educating people about our music history.”
