How long will the autumn weather last?

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) — There will still be light showers and isolated drizzle tonight, but can we shake off the rain threat by mid-week? Find out below…

Hello autumn!

The frontal system responsible for the weekend’s showers and thunderstorms and Monday morning’s heavy rain is moving slowly. Fortunately, the showers/drizzle will mostly clear overnight, with some clearing and lows dropping to 10-12 degrees.

If you’re tired of the heat and humidity of this CNY summer, you’ll enjoy the refreshing feeling of autumn on Tuesday and Wednesday. Maximum temperatures are unlikely to rise above 18 degrees, and a light breeze will make it feel even cooler.

The dew points will also be in the pleasant range between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius for the rest of the week.

Chance of rain at the start of the fair?

A high pressure system will begin to build from the west on Tuesday and Wednesday, but a low pressure wave at altitude and on the ground looks set to roll across the Northeast Tuesday into Wednesday. What does this mean for us? Unfortunately, it looks like at least a few sea showers will develop on Tuesday, mainly near and west of Syracuse, due to a cool north-northwest wind.

A low pressure area at altitude and a surface trough appear to be moving through during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, so the probability of isolated showers on Wednesday at the start of the fair is unfortunately even higher.

So if you’re planning on going to the fair on the first day, you’ll probably want to bring an umbrella or rain jacket to stay dry. That said, we don’t think it will rain all day, but it looks like it will rain on and off before it driers out late Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Nice weekend trip!

High pressure in the west is finally building up, while low pressure is moving out Thursday into Friday, which should bring some sun on Thursday and plenty of sun to end the week. This will also bring drier weather.

On Thursday the maximum temperatures will reach 24 degrees and on Friday almost 27 degrees.
