(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) is inviting the public to learn about the new low-floor light rail cars before they begin operating on the Gold and Green lines next month.

SacRT announced that it will hold nine “pop-up” events with booths at various stations over the next two weeks so that passengers can learn about the new vehicles before they begin operating on September 1.

At a celebration on September 3 at the 7th and Richards/Township 9 location, the public can tour one of the new trains between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

SacRT staff will be present at the various events to answer questions from riders and the public.

The new carriages make it easier for all passengers to board, have larger windows and a different seating arrangement and replace the current carriages, some of which have been in use since the 1980s.
