List of SpaceX launches 2024

SpaceX is targeting 148 launches in 2024, up from 98 last year. This pace would mean the company would have to conduct a launch every two and a half days. Follow all of SpaceX’s 2024 launches below.

How many rockets has SpaceX launched in 2024?

So far, SpaceX has launched 84 rockets in 2024, 81 Falcon 9s, one Falcon Heavies and two Starships.

2024: When Starship tests get serious

In 2023, Starship finally made its long-awaited debut in its fully integrated form. Of course, in 2024, Starship launches will also play a big role in keeping SpaceX in the headlines (both for better and for worse).

We don’t know exactly how many test flights SpaceX will conduct, but if the company wants to have any chance of meeting NASA’s Artemis timelines, it should be in the double digits. By the end of the year, NASA really needs to see serious progress for Starship to become a viable rocket and for in-space refueling to be perfected.

If SpaceX could survive the regular and (by SpaceX standards) lengthy FAA investigations, Starship launches could occur weeks apart or less. That amount of flight data and experience could make Starship a much more viable commercial rocket and provide confidence in the Artemis 3 timeline in 2026.

Record year for manned space flights?

In early 2023, it looked like SpaceX would also beat its record for most human spaceflights in a year. Unfortunately, delays to the Polaris Dawn mission meant the company had to set its current record of three launches.

Something that is and should still be an amazing achievement for SpaceX.

If all schedules are met or there are no major delays, SpaceX could launch up to five manned missions into space in 2024. At least three of them have little to no scheduling issues, such as the two commercial crew missions for NASA and Axiom-3.

Two other missions scheduled to launch this year are Axiom-4 in the fall and the Polaris Dawn mission. The first Polaris launch this year is the most exciting because it will include the first private spacewalk. This type of capability will be valuable when SpaceX and Polaris get the green light from NASA to service the Hubble Space Telescope.

Weekly launches from California

Vandenberg, the spaceport that has been around since the United States started launching rockets, has been neglected in recent years due to high launch rates. SpaceX has changed that in recent months. Soon the West Coast will be as busy as Florida has been for years.

SpaceX hopes to launch from Vandenberg up to once a week by 2024. As business from Florida increases, the ability to launch more Starlink missions from California will encourage bandwidth improvements. In the coming years, SpaceX could launch as many satellites as it does from Florida by around 2023.
