Nine-year-old dancer from Chapel Hill inspired by a moment with Taylor Swift –

Soon after Lucia knew She wanted to become a professional dancer.

During one of Izzy’s competitions, Lucia, then three years old, was stretching in the corner of the dressing room, said Renner Dance Company owner Said Summer Disher.

“I basically gave her a private lesson in the dressing room because she wanted to be on that stage so badly,” said Disher. “She has this indescribable love for what she does and it has been close to her heart since she was three years old.”

Now, at nine, Lucia dances 12 hours per weekk, jazz, acrobatics, poetry, contemporary, ballet and hip-hop.

“Sometimes it is a struggle for her to get her to perform the choreography exactly as we expect her to,” said Disher. “But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because when she gets it, she kind of makes it her own.”

Lucia also dances outside the studio, whirling or pirouettes from room to room, Alexis said. From Disher’s perspectiveLucia’s passion, work ethic and energy are indescribable.

“And I also enjoy going to work,” Lucia said“I don’t just go there for the friends. I also love working on dancing, and I wouldn’t even go dancing if I just wanted to go to socialize.”

For Lucia, As a professional dancer, you are the star of the show, not just a backup. Every time Lucia takes a dance intensive and works with the best dancers in the industry, she sees herself more and more in the professional dance world. Said Alexis.

But because the performance industry can be mercilesssaid Disher It is crucial for young girls to have a good role model.

Alexis admires how down to earth Swift is and hopes the same for her daughter.

Swift as inspiration

plate said when When she heard that Lucia had received hat number 22, she was not at all surprised.

“That’s just her innermost identity, and that’s what she’s been since she was two years old.” said Disher.

Alexis herself was always a fan of Swift’s country music and often played it in the car when Lucia was growing up.

But Lucia was fascinated by Taylor Swift when the Eras tour began. She observed the tour film and hoped to see Swift perform at some point.

On a family vacation in Europe earlier this summer, Alexis surprised Lucia with last minute tickets for The Eras Tour in Hamburg.

Lucia said when When she heard the news, she was so excited she could have fainted.

“I had so much energy,” Said Lucia.

During the performance Alexis said Lucia danced her heart out the entire time. Later, Lucia was approached by a member of Swift’s management team and led onto the stage.

Swift then handed Lucia her hat, but not before Lucia hugged her tightly and said, “I love you,” to which Swift replied, “I love you too!”

Lucia she said was impressed by Swift’s lavish performances and found her to be an inspiration both as a person and as an artist.

“I love how nice she is to her fans and I love that she is not afraid to perform,” Lucia said“I love that she doesn’t care what others say and the hate comments don’t bother her. I don’t mind the hate comments either, but it’s just nice to live like this.”

Alexis said as a parent, She loves how Swift sets an example for people to be kind in a hateful world. She said when When Lucia received the hat, it would have been easy for people to be negative, but instead the family received overwhelming support and positivity.

“It couldn’t be better because there are all kinds of people she can idolize and look up to. So I’m grateful that she chose someone who is down to earth.” Said Alexis.
