BEAUFORT, SC – Reconstruction Era National Historical Park will temporarily close the Visitor Center/Old Beaufort Firehouse in downtown Beaufort from August 22-30, 2024, for flooring work in the building.

During the closure, park staff will provide visitor information and scheduled programs from the Beaufort Visitor Center Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with ranger programs at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The Beaufort Visitor Center is located in the Beaufort Arsenal at 713 Craven Street, across from the Park Visitor Center/Old Beaufort Firehouse.

During the closure, the park will extend access at Darrah Hall in the Penn Center National Historic Landmark District (regularly open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to Sunday and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and at Pinckney Porters Chapel near Camp Saxton in Port Royal (regularly open Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
