Every winner of a reality show will have fans and critics. And it is clear Bobby Bones has a latter in the form of Julianne Houghwho with his controversial Dancing with the stars win.

Hough, who worked as a professional and judge at DWTS before her current role as co-host, was featured in Sunday’s episode of See what’s happening live with Andy Cohen whether there has ever been a celebrity win on the show that she “completely disagreed with.” She initially paused when asked the question until a colleague WWHL Guest Mickey Guyton nudged her and whispered Bones’ name.

“Oh, I actually agree with you!” Hough replied. “And I think it’s because of the fandom, right? This show is all about the fandom. He wasn’t the best dancer, I agree.”

Hough and Guyton followed up their statements with effusive praise for Bones, applauding his efforts in season 27 of DWTSand said there are “great” fans who “love” him.

It didn’t take long for Bones himself to hear about Hough’s words, but the radio host agreed with the former champion’s statement and addressed the issue in a video on Instagram.

“I was the worst dancer. I’m proud of that,” he said. “I tried harder on the show than anyone else in history. But I can’t dance now, I couldn’t dance then. But do you know who brought down the big bad empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire… it’s me!”

Bones took part in season 27 of the Emmy-winning reality show in 2018, with professionals Sharna BurgessDespite his best efforts, he consistently finished at the bottom of the rankings according to the judges’ scores. Nevertheless, Bones’ fan base, which he had built up over his years as a DJ, prevailed and secured him the win.

Bones’ victory was definitely the most shocking DWTS for quite some time. The victory sparked widespread outrage among fans, who questioned the value of a dance show where arguably the “worst dancer” of the finalists won.
