“DWTS” winner Bobby Bones hits back at Julianne Hough’s diss

Bobby Bones responded to Julianne Hough that he shouldn’t have won the 27th season of “Dancing With the Stars” because he was “not the best dancer.”

The radio host hit back at the “DWTS” co-host’s comments in a video shared on Instagram on Monday, saying, “I was the worst dancer. I’m proud of that.”

“I tried as much as anyone else in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now (and) I couldn’t then.”

“But you know who brought down the big bad empire of dance – well, it’s neither evil nor an empire – it’s you and me,” Bones continued, referring to the viewers who voted for him and his partner Sharna Burgess in 2018.

“We did it together. I am the greatest champion of all time. I didn’t say I was the greatest dancer, I said I was the greatest champion of all time because I am the man of the people. I am the man you chose.”

The 44-year-old host of the “Bobby Bones Show” noted that after his victory, the “DWTS” producers changed the voting rules for the next season.

“I’m a terrible dancer, I was a terrible dancer,” he repeated. “But they changed the rules after I left because the fan vote was so good.”

According to Newsweek, the new rules allowed viewers to vote only while the show was running and prohibited fans from voting on the first episode of each season.

Bones made it clear that there was no animosity between him and Hough, 36, calling the professional dancer “cool” and “awesome.”

However, the TV star apparently had a bone to pick with country singer Mickey Guyton, who agreed with Hough on “Watch What Happens Live” that Bones should not have won his season.

“Mickey Guyton, what the-” said Bones disgustedly. “Of all people, that one person.”

Hough and Guyton, 41, were asked on Sunday’s episode of “WWHL” who they thought should not have won the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

Although Hough was initially hesitant, she agreed with the “Make It Me” singer’s choice of Bones.

“Oh, I actually agree with you!” the “Footloose” star replied. “And I think it’s because of the fandom, right? This show is all about the fandom. He wasn’t the best dancer, I agree.”

Bones controversially won the 27th season of the ABC competition series despite receiving low ratings from the judges each week.

During his season, Bones acknowledged his lack of dancing skills and told Good Housekeeping at the time that he understood the criticism from then-judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

“Honestly, I don’t think they want me to win. I think the judges want someone with more dance experience to win,” he told the outlet in November 2018.

“But that’s why the show is not just about the judges, it’s about the people. I don’t think the show has ever had a winner like me, and I don’t know what that means to them.”
