Harry and Meghan dare to dance salsa before ending their visit to Colombia
With applause and dancing, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised visitors to a music festival towards the end of their visit to Colombia. The couple did not hesitate to dance to the rhythm of the marimba salsa and tried viche, a traditional drink from the Colombian Pacific region, while mingling with the crowd.
This is how spontaneous and natural they were at the Petronio Álvarez Pacific Music Festival, the largest Afro-Latin American cultural event in Cali. So much so that the Dukes dared to dance the “Cali Pachanguero” together with a group of children.
One hundred children from the Vallado neighborhood, committed to preserving the area’s traditional culture, accompanied the youngest son of Carlos III and his wife, as well as the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez, and the city’s mayor, Alejandro Eder. They all seemed eager to dance with Meghan Markle, who demonstrated her innate talent for Latin American dancing.
The applause was not long in coming for some dances captured in videos that have already gone viral on social media and are among the countless achievements of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during this trip.
“Good evening, Cali, good evening, Colombia. Thank you to the Vice President, thank you to everyone for the warm welcome, thank you for your wonderful culture and thank you, thank you for your incredible hospitality,” Prince Harry later addressed the more than 200,000 attendees at the event.
During their trip, the countless gestures of affection between the couple caught people’s attention
Meghan Markle was very excited and one of the main protagonists of this trip. She also expressed her affection for Colombia, the country she had visited before because of its history and culture, because she was very happy about it. “Thank you everyone, enjoy the evening.”
Friendly, approachable, natural and spontaneous – the Duchess of Sussex caught everyone’s attention during this visit. A few days earlier, she even dared to speak Spanish.
The former actress participated in a forum entitled “Afro Women and Power” in Cali alongside Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez and did not hesitate to begin her talk in fluent Spanish.
“Good evening, I want to start in Spanish because my husband and I are in his country and I can feel this embrace from Colombia. It’s incredible. Thank you for the culture, the history, everything… this trip was a dream. I apologize if my Spanish is not perfect because I learned it 20 years ago in Argentina, but I’m trying hard because I can feel this sense of community here,” she said, drawing applause from the audience.
