Disney characters Clarabelle and Horace hosted a Disneyland dance party with a playlist of horse songs by Chappell Roan and other artists.

D23 Day at Disneyland

With all the big news revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, you may have missed the weekend’s insider tip: Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar’s horse dance party at Disneyland, captured by our friends at MouseSteps.com.

D23 Day at Disneyland took place on August 8, 2024, one day before the official start of the D23 convention in Anaheim, California. The one-day special event included special appearances by Disney Legends, the debut of the title character from Disney Jr.’s The Little Mermaid, and a low-key dance party in Tomorrowland that no one expected.

Clarabelle and Horace love Chappell Roan

At the Tomorrowland Terrace – the same venue where Perry the Platypus danced to “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee at Disneyland After Dark earlier this year – Horace Horsecollar became “DJ Horace” and took over the mixing desk for a series of horse tunes that Clarabelle appropriately danced to:

  • “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X
  • “High Horse” by Kacey Musgraves
  • “White Horse” by Taylor Swift
  • “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan
  • “Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae)” by Silentó

Dressed in rare space-themed outfits, Clarabelle and Horace proved once again that their presence should never be overlooked at a Disney theme park. Their Tomorrowland dance party was exactly the kind of unbridled, iconic energy they seemingly bring to every event of the modern era.

Clarabelle and Horace, Disney icons

Clarabelle and Horace may not appear in the parks as frequently as Minnie and Mickey, but when they do, they get the party started. Clarabelle was a star on the parade route during Disneyland’s Pride Nite event two years in a row. She also steals the show on the East Coast with her annual rendition of “All I Want for Christmas is You,” singing into a glittery microphone and arriving in a disco ball sleigh during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom.

In the first Mickey Mouse cartoons of the 1920s and 1930s, Clarabelle and Horace were practically stock characters alongside Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Pete. As the 1930s progressed, Disney artists introduced new characters such as Donald Duck and Goofy, while earlier stock characters such as Clarabelle and Horace appeared less and less frequently. Today, they can be seen occasionally in “Mickey Mouse Funhouse,” a Disney Jr. series.
