TikToker’s “Hot to Go” dance ends in disaster after painful neck injury

TikToker Babeowitz went viral on the app after a video of her performing the “Hot to Go” dance with a friend ended in disaster.

Since TikTok launched in 2016, there have been numerous viral dances, and one of the most recent is powered by Chappell Roan’s song “Hot to Go.”

While dancing, fans form the letters of the song title with their hands, similar to the Village People’s 1978 hit “YMCA.”

On August 14, TikToker Babeowitz uploaded her attempt at dancing with her boyfriend Matt… and the dance went viral on the app after she got hit on the neck while doing it.

After accidentally hitting her in the neck, Matt paused the music and checked on his girlfriend. “Oh my god, turn that off,” the TikToker said after catching her breath.

In less than a week, Babeowitz’s video has garnered over 40 million views, nearly 6 million likes, and over 25,000 comments from shocked viewers and fans of the creator.

“This just came in! The HOT TO GO dance is an AMAZING self defense technique,” one user commented.

Another said, “THWAP followed by immediate choking is killing me.”

Even Spotify reacted: “The gossip went around the world,” they said.

Babeowitz and her friend also shared a sequel to the viral video, which simply shows the two standing next to each other while she wears a neck brace.

The sequel went similarly viral, garnering over 37 million views and 20,000 comments in just two days.

“I’M GASPING THE SILENCE IS SO LOUD,” one user commented.

Another said: “The silence is very modest, very mindful, very emphatic, very cute.”

They weren’t the only ones using the word “humute” in the comments either, as it’s one of the most used words on TikTok at the time of writing. While not everyone agrees on its actual meaning, many say it means “shy, modest, and reserved.”
