The National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse, Wisconsin, has confirmed two more tornadoes resulting from storms in northeast Iowa the night of August 5.

The NWS initially confirmed an EF1 tornado north of Waukon near Hanover with estimated peak winds of 105 mph. It had a diameter of 46 meters, remained on the ground for about ten minutes and covered a distance of almost six kilometers.

On Wednesday (8/17), the NWS said an EF0 tornado with winds up to 80 mph touched down for about a half-mile near Bluffton in Winneshiek County between 9:57 p.m. and 9:58 a.m. on August 5. The brief twister struck mostly in a field and uprooted or broke some trees while on the ground.

Another EF0 was confirmed at Springwater, about five miles north of Decorah, beginning at 10:11 p.m. and ending at 10:14 p.m. on August 5. The NWS says the brief tornado, with winds in excess of 80 mph, damaged trees, crops and an outbuilding while on the ground for just under a mile.
