Cincinnati Open finalist Tiafoe and Chilean number 22 in the world Alejandro Tabilo will represent Team World at the seventh edition of the Laver Cup, which will take place from September 20 to 22, 2024 at the Uber Arena in Berlin.

Tiafoe and Tabilo complete the line-up for Team World. The pair join the world number 10 Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton And Tommy Paul To Captain John McEnroe squad.

Since competing for Team World at the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague in 2017, Tiafoe has impressed at the highest level on both tour and at the Laver Cup. He reached the semifinals of the 2022 US Open after defeating four-time champion Rafael Nadal, becoming the first American to do so since Andy Roddick in 2006.

Tiafoe made history by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas to win Team World’s first Laver Cup title in London in 2022.

Before this victory, Tiafoe and fellow countryman Jack Sock had defeated Nadal and Roger Federer in Federer’s last professional match in the Laver Cup doubles.

“I’m excited to be back with Team World and look forward to another great week with my teammates and Johnny Mac,” said Tiafoe. “A third win in a row is the goal!”

For Tiafoe, this is already his fifth participation in the Laver Cup, a record he shares with Alexander Zverev.

“I am very happy to have Frances back on the team in Berlin,” Team World Captain John McEnroe he said. “He has proven that he can compete against the best players in the world. His power and speed make him a threat in both singles and doubles and give us a lot of options.”

“He is a great personality and brings a great atmosphere to the team, whether he is on the pitch or on the bench.”

Laver Cup debutant Alejandro Tabilo secured his first ATP Tour title in Auckland in January, dropping just one set in six matches to become the first Chilean to win a hard-court Tour title since Fernando Gonzalez in 2007.

Tabilo pulled off a big surprise on clay court at the ATP Masters in Rome when he defeated the world number one. Novak Djokovic in straight sets on his way to the semifinals, where he forced eventual champion Alexander Zverev to three sets. In July, he broke into the top 20 for the first time after winning his first grass-court title in Mallorca.

“Tabilo has proven this year that he can beat the best players on all surfaces. He should bring new energy to the experienced and successful core team,” said McEnroe.

“It is a great honor to represent Team World in Berlin and I thank Captain McEnroe for choosing me,” said Tabilo. “I will play any role I can, on and off the court, to contribute to a victory.”

Team Europe captain Björn Borg has assembled an impressive team to bring the Laver Cup back into European hands, Casper Ruud And Stefanos Tsitsipas to join the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael NadalWinner of Roland Garros and Wimbledon 2024 Carlos AlcarazRoland Garros finalist Zverev and former world number 1 Daniil Medvedev.

Team Europe won the first four editions of the Laver Cup in Prague (2017), Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019) and Boston (2021). Team World is aiming for a third consecutive title after victories in London (2022) and Vancouver (2023).
