These streets in Charlottetown will be closed on Friday for the Gold Cup Parade

Charlottetown’s Gold Cup Parade takes place Friday morning. Here’s how it will impact traffic in and out of downtown throughout the day.

The parade begins at 10am at the corner of North River Road and McGill Avenue, then proceeds east along Brighton Road to Great George Street. From Great George Street it heads to Grafton Street, where it turns west to Queen Street, along Queen Street to Water Street and east again, finishing at the corner of Prince Street and Water Street.

Starting at midnight Friday, parking will be prohibited along the parade route, and starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, parking will be prohibited in the provincial government parking lot on Terry Fox Drive.

Roads along the parade route will be closed from 9am. In addition, Grafton will be closed from Great George to Rochford Street. Rochford will be closed from Grafton to Fitzroy Street. Fitzroy will be closed from Rochford to Terry Fox Drive and Terry Fox Drive will be closed from Brighton Road to Kent Street.

North River Road from Belvedere Avenue to McGill Avenue and Kirkwood Drive between North River Road and Trafalgar Street will remain closed as parade assembly points starting at 7:00 a.m. Friday.

Access to the southwestern part of Charlottetown, adjacent to the parade route, will be restricted starting at 9 a.m.

The restrictions are expected to remain in place until around noon, but many roads will be heavily congested after the parade.
