Man arrested after woman dies in triple knife attack in Manchester | UK news

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was fatally injured in a triple stabbing in Manchester.

The 43-year-old woman died at the scene of the accident and a 17-year-old girl and a 64-year-old man were in hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Greater Manchester Police said a 22-year-old man had been arrested and that “initial indications” suggested he was known to the victims. Police said the stabbing in the Gorton area of ​​east Manchester was being treated as an isolated incident.

Armed officers were among those dispatched to an address on Barnard Road at around 11.20pm on Sunday, police said.

Three forensic tents were set up on Monday morning – one in front of a property, another in the front yard and a third on the street.

Det Supt Toby Facey said: “We understand that people locally and across Greater Manchester are rightly shocked and concerned after waking up this morning to hear this tragic news. Our thoughts are with those affected and their loved ones at this difficult time and we are doing all we can to support them.

“Within minutes of the call, our officers were on scene and an arrest was made. An investigation has been launched and we are still in the very early stages of our investigation. We had detectives on scene working through the night to find out what happened and why.”

He appealed to the public to pass on information about the incident to the police on 101.
