Full starting lineup after rain cancellation in Michigan

The NASCAR Cup Series experienced a little déjà vu on Sunday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway. Just like in August 2023, the FireKeepers Casino 400 started, but was canceled due to rain and eventually postponed until Monday.

Only 51 of the scheduled 200 laps on the 2.0-mile (3.219-kilometer) four-turn oval in Brooklyn, Michigan, were contested on Sunday afternoon before the decision was made to postpone the remaining 149 laps until Monday.

The first 45-lap stage was completed and Ryan Blaney of Team Penske took the win, the 10 points and the playoff point after several other drivers pitted during the caution period due to the spin of a single car owned by Denny Hamlin of the Joe Gibbs Racing Team.

After Blaney pitted during the ensuing stage break, Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott was able to move up from second to the lead. He is the current points leader and will lead the field back to the green flag on Monday.
