10-year-old boy dies of illness at Flip Out Glasgow trampoline park | UK news

A ten-year-old boy has died after falling ill at a trampoline park in South Lanarkshire.

Shortly before 11am on Sunday, emergency services were called to Flip Out Glasgow on Southcroft Road in Rutherglen.

The boy was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, where he was pronounced dead.

A police Scotland A spokesman said: “The child’s death is being treated as unexplained, although there are no suspicious circumstances.”

A report will be submitted to the public prosecutor.

Police initially notified the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), but the matter was then referred to the local authority as the relevant enforcement agency for trampoline parks.

South Lanarkshire Council confirmed it was investigating the incident.

A spokesman added: “Our deepest condolences go out to the child’s family and friends following this tragedy.

“The council will provide all necessary support to fellow pupils and other persons at its school.”

Freak out Glasgow is a 5,747 m² indoor center with 34 trampolines, a soft play area, electric kart tracks and a laser quest arena.

The center released an online statement following the incident and confirmed that it was currently closed.

A spokesperson added: “Please follow our social media pages for further updates.”
