Ace Ashford, the 18-year-old son of Troy and Jamie Ashford, was killed in a tragic horse accident on August 12. Ashford was doing what he loved – working during the day – when the accident happened.

Ace Patton Ashford was born on February 1, 2006, in Lott, Texas. He had just graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School in Lott. As his obituary states, Ace loved the cowboy lifestyle and was the true definition of a hard-working country boy.

He naturally learned to love the cowboy lifestyle. His parents both competed in rodeo competitions and had promoted a well-known stallion, Traffic Guy.

Talent runs in the family, as Ace is the younger brother of Ross Ashford, who qualified for the National Finals and plans to perform again in Las Vegas in December.

Ace was determined to attend Hill College and had received a scholarship to join the rodeo team in the fall. His hard work and dedication to his sport was evident to everyone who knew him.

Ace and his partner Jade Philipp won the 2023 Riata Buckle #10.5 Junior Roping and he also took home the 2024 Patriot #11.5 All Ages championship with heeler Ryder Davis.

Those who remain here to cherish the memories will miss the young talent very much. Over the last three years, Ace has spent many days and hours with his girlfriend Sydney Boatright. They were inseparable and the love between them can be seen in pictures.

Boatright penned a very simple tribute that was absolutely heartbreaking. “I love you forever Ace Patton,” she wrote. Her profile picture changed to a picture of her and Ace in an embrace.

According to his obituary, Ace leaves behind his parents Troy and Jamie Ashford of Lott, his sister Macy Ashford and her fiancé Ryan Rule of Florida, his brother Ross Ashford and his wife Taylor of Stephenville, his maternal grandmother Jo Alexander of Lott, his maternal grandfather Richard McLaughlin and his wife Susan of Oklahoma, his paternal grandparents Steve and JoAnn Ashford of Belton, his girlfriend Sydney Boatright of Liberty Hill, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will cherish his memories. The time spent with him will forever be cherished in the hearts of those whose lives he touched with his kindness and love.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 10 a.m. at Ross-Lott High School. The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosebud-Lott High School. Ace will be interred in Carolina Cemetery.
