2 big changes from the Emirates Cup | Expected Arsenal lineup (4-3-3) against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Arsenal kick off their Premier League season on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Gunners have won their last six games against the Midlands side and will be looking to continue that streak in the season opener.

We believe manager Mikel Arteta could capitalise on some opportunities in the 2-0 win over Lyon in the Emirates Cup last weekend.

Education: 4-3-3

Expected lineup:

David Raya is the Gunners’ undisputed first-choice goalkeeper and is expected to keep his place between the posts ahead of Aaron Ramsdale.

He could be faced with a familiar defensive line from the last two years. Ben White is a sure starter on the right side of defense.

William Saliba will partner Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to favor Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori at left-back.

Zinchenko has been brilliant in the last two friendlies, scoring a superb goal against Bayer Leverkusen and should have provided an assist against Lyon as well.

He deserves his starting spot ahead of Calafiori, who may need time to adjust to the league. Timber has only just returned to training after a foot problem.

In midfield, Thomas Partey could make way. We believe Kai Havertz could drop into the middle of the pitch alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Partey had a mixed pre-season. Against Wolves, the Gunners may not need his defensive security from the start. He could come on as a substitute.

Further forward, Bukayo Saka is expected to continue to play on the right wing, but on the left, Leandro Trossard could be preferred over Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli lacked penetration in the final third. Against Lyon, he missed a one-on-one opportunity. This could lead to him being benched.

Gabriel Jesus is likely to take over as the Gunners’ captain. The Brazilian looks slimmer and fitter since last season and has scored a number of goals in pre-season.
