Google Messages removes support for YouTube video screening in the app

JAKARTA When Google Messages users send video links from YouTube, users can watch their videos within the app because this messaging platform supports the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature. Google intentionally adds this feature so that users don’t have to switch between apps. However, in an operation conducted by Android Authority on the beta version of the application, all codes and subtitles containing this feature were removed. By removing the PiP features, the opened YouTube video link will not display video previews. Links from YouTube will not display PiP back and users will be immediately redirected to the original YouTube app. Although this feature has disappeared from the Google Messages app, there is no official news from the company yet. It is also not known why Google removed the PiP YouTube support that was introduced in 2022. There is a possibility that this feature was removed because it is poorly used. Although some people like to share links, Google Messages users may find it more pleasant to watch the video live in the YouTube app because it offers better viewing.

Moreover, Google has upgraded this video platform with several new features like Community Records and Miniplayers which are still in the development phase. There is also the option to resize the miniplayer and move it around the screen. YouTube’s PiP features in Google Messages have not been added to Google’s tomb list as the company has secretly deleted it. Google may not announce this change in the future.
