Neon Night Dance ensures a happy start to the school year

The school administration hosted its annual Back to School Ball on the Green on Friday evening with dazzling lights, colorful decorations, delicious food, face painting and entertaining music.

Neon Night has been an MA tradition for many years, and this year’s event is mostly made up of freshmen. “It’s fun, there’s good music, and I love the atmosphere here. Everyone is super nice. It’s more than I expected,” said freshman Olivia Rogers.

The students enjoyed the varied music during the dance. “It was very nice and entertaining and I think everyone should come. Everything was perfect, but I wish they had played more Spanish music*,” said second-grader Diana Magaña.

“I think the school administration did a really good job setting up the dance floors. All the activities and drinks were really well organized,” said second-year student Atessa Gholamy.

Leadership student and senior Zoe Fong helped plan the dance’s numerous activities. “I signed up for the face painting task, which is one of my favorite parts of our events,” she said. “We always have a ton of patterns you can choose from to have your face painted, or we can design something for you. It’s super fun and fits well with the neon night theme because we have bright colors, so even if people show up without neon clothing, we can do it for them.”

Comparing this year’s dance to past ones, Fong said, “I think this year’s dance is super spirited. Last year it was called Summer Send-Off, but I’m really glad we brought it back because the decorations, the music and the vibe were really good. I’m really proud of how we put on this event.”
