Fast food workers in California demand higher wages

Fast food workers across California are demanding significant wage increases to counter the rising cost of living and the effects of inflation. The California Fast Food Workers Union is leading the demand for a wage increase to $20.70 starting in 2025, followed by another increase to $21.40 next year.

These proposed wage increases are part of the union’s response to rising inflation, as explained in its letter to the statewide Fast Food Council, which was notably created following the signing of a bill by Governor Gavin Newsom that raises the state’s minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 starting in April 2024.
