Petition calls for dismissal of TCU basketball star Sedona Prince with over 150,000 signatures

A petition calling on TCU to remove star basketball player Sedona Prince from its program had found more than 150,000 supporters as of Sunday evening.

The change.org petition, initiated by Leah Cole, was launched on August 14 after Prince’s ex-girlfriend Olivia Stabile made allegations of abuse on TikTok. Stabile has over 700,000 followers on TikTok and uploaded a 10-part video series recapping a recent trip to Mexico for Prince’s birthday.

Stabile claimed, among other things, that Prince pushed her off an ATV and left her in the jungle outside her resort in Mexico.

Stabile also said that after Prince returned on the ATV, she flipped it on its side and pushed Stabile as she tried to help her. In response to the allegations, Prince released a statement on Instagram condemning some of the personal attacks she has faced in recent days.

“The level of hate, bullying and death threats my family, friends and I are experiencing is dangerous, irresponsible and disturbing,” the 24-year-old said in a statement.

“Many people are judging and questioning the situation from afar, voicing opinions and attacking stories with misrepresentations and inaccurate information that lack honesty or transparency… As I continue to take time off and focus on my wellbeing, health and commitments, I sincerely wish the best for everyone, especially those with whom I have been blessed to share my life in a relationship.”

Prince said at the end of the statement that she would have no further comment on the matter and would let her legal counsel speak for her. Prince has been a key building block in rebuilding the TCU women’s basketball team under Mark Campbell, who is entering his second season as head coach.

The Star-Telegram reached out to TCU’s women’s basketball program for comment on Sunday but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Prince was the first major transfer to give the Horned Frogs a shot, and she averaged 19.7 and 9.8 rebounds for TCU last season. This offseason, the Horned Frogs signed former LSU guard Hailey Van Lith and Kentucky guard Maddie Scherr in a loaded recruiting class.

Prince’s return and the influx of new talent made the upcoming season one of the biggest in the program’s history, with so many of the sport’s biggest names in Fort Worth represented. Now, that situation could play a big role all season long.
