Bengaluru girl is raped by a biker who picked her up while returning from a party

BENGALURU: A 21-year-old college student was allegedly sexually assaulted by a biker with whom she had hitched a ride home after midnight on Saturday.
The alleged incident took place at a remote location in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, HSR Layout, in southeast Bengaluru’s Sector 7. The woman was returning to her accommodation in Chandapura area, off Hosur Road, after attending a party in Koramangala with friends.
According to preliminary reports, the survivors’ friends were taking them home in their car. However, soon after they left Koramangala, their vehicle hit an autorickshaw, leading to an incident of driving aggression. The two parties started arguing and the police were called to break up the dispute.
The woman left the accident scene before the police arrived. She tried to stop several passing bikers and ask them to give her a lift. While some told her that they were not going in her direction, one agreed to drop her at her accommodation. Instead of dropping her at Hongasandra, he took her to a secluded spot in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, a few meters away from Hosur Main Road, she claimed.

After car accident with bike tour

Sensing danger, she immediately pressed the SOS button on her phone. The messages and her location were forwarded to her father and friends, whose numbers were saved as emergency contacts.
According to police, two of her friends rushed to the scene and found her naked behind a truck. They covered her with their car tarp and brought her into the vehicle. There they discovered an angry man with no shirt on. They tried to catch him, but he managed to escape.
Her friends then took her to a private hospital in Bommasandra where she was treated. The hospital initiated medico-legal proceedings. One of her rescuers lodged a complaint about the incident at HSR Layout police station.
The police registered a case of rape under BNS Section 64. The complainant alleged that the biker tried to sexually assault her. According to police, the woman was from another state and was pursuing BBA in Bengaluru. Her parents arrived in Bengaluru on Sunday.
ACP (East) Raman Gupta said the incident took place around 1.30 am and there was clear evidence about the suspect.
