Internet reacts to Simone Biles’ electrifying, Taylor Swift-inspired Olympic floor routine: “Pure magic”

Simone Biles was the star of the show on Friday, the first night of the U.S. Olympic gymnastics qualifications in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her impressive floor exercise routine – and the fans were thrilled.

With two days left before the remaining trials for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Biles leads the field with a score of 58.900. Jordan Chiles is in second place with 56.400 and Suni Lee holds third place with 56.025.

After her first event – the uneven bars – Biles was in second place. But it was her two favorite events, floor and vault, that gave her a sharp jump in points to first place and had the crowd cheering.

For her choreography on the second floor, Biles collaborated with French dancer Gregory Milan, who choreographed her, so NBC. In it, Biles landed a triple-double, also known as the “hardest tumbling pass in the world,” according to NBC Olympic commentators.

“My goodness!!! Everyone else in Paris will only be fighting for silver and bronze!” wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Dude, watching Simone Biles’ floor routine is like pure magic,” added another, while someone else raved, “Nothing makes me feel more patriotic than Simone Biles’ floor routine.”

“I can’t stop watching (her routine),” wrote podcast host Josh Reynolds. “One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I still can’t believe how she jumps through the air like that. Just amazing. She’s incredible.”

Another fan filmed himself mimicking the decorated Olympian’s moves and posted a side-by-side video of himself and Biles performing the routines with the caption: “Iconic. Legendary. Moment.”

To the delight of Swift fans around the world, the routine included an instrumental version of Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for It?”

“Song is clearly ‘ready for it’ and we still weren’t,” someone praised the seven-time Olympic medalist.

“Simone Biles starting her floor routine with Taylor Swift is awesome,” raved one fan on X, while another said, “A crossover between Simone Biles and Taylor Swift just makes sense.”

Her performance Friday night gave her a strong start to qualifying for the 2024 team the United States hopes to send to this year’s Olympic Games in Paris. At each Olympic qualifying event, the gymnast with the highest score is automatically named to the team the United States sends to Paris, with four more selected by a committee after the qualifying events are completed.

Biles famously withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, citing mental health reasons at the time, but her performance at the U.S. Olympic Qualifying competitions shows that she is back and better than ever.
