(MENAFN- Live Mint) In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old boy died on Saturday when the outdoor unit of an air conditioner fell on him from the second floor in central Delhi.

The deceased, identified as Jitesh (18), a resident of Doriwalan, was rushed to the hospital. However, he was declared brought dead.

His friend Pranshu (17), a resident of Patel Nagar in Delhi, was also injured in the incident.

The video of the incident, which took place on Saturday around 7 pm on the premises of Desh Bandhu Gupta police station, went viral on social media platforms.

Police said the injured Pranshu was currently receiving treatment and was unable to make a statement.

In a video, Jitesh is seen sitting on a scooter talking to his friend and hugging him. But a few seconds before he was about to leave the place, the outdoor unit of the air conditioner fell on them.

“On Saturday, around 7 pm, the Desh Bandhu Road police station received information that an outdoor unit of an air conditioner had fallen on a person. The unit fell from the second floor on two boys,” PTI reported, citing a senior Delhi police official.

The forensic team has examined the crime scene and further investigations are ongoing.

An FIR has been filed under sections 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 106 (culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, he said.

Meanwhile, another incident took place in Faridabad on Sunday when two girls, aged two and six, fell into a large pot of hot vegetables during a ‘bhandara’ (community festival), resulting in the death of one and serious injury to the other. Police said they slipped and fell into the pot while playing in the kitchen of the bhandara.

Earlier this month, a similar bizarre incident occurred in the Mumbra district of Thane, Maharashtra: a four-year-old girl walking with her mother died when a dog fell on her from the fifth floor of a building.
