Hello!

A portion of downtown San Pedro was transformed on Saturday, August 17, to reflect the ambiance of Paris for an open-air market on 7th Street.

The highlight? French summer wines on tap, courtesy of Compagnon Wine Bistro, 335 W. Seventh St.

There were also local vendors to shop from, food trucks, and live entertainment with performances by the Old Friends Jazz Band and DJ Runaway.

Held on the 300 block of Seventh Street between Mesa and Centre streets, the market was one of several similar street events designed to attract more visitors to the port city’s historic downtown. The events also provide an opportunity for the city’s new residents, who have recently moved into the shopping district – thanks to the new mid-rise apartment developments – to socialise and get to know their new hometown better.

The Summer Block Festival follows similar markets in December 2023 and March 2024, which also featured festivities on Seventh Street (closed to traffic) between Mesa and Centre Streets.

Sponsored by Discover San Pedro and the region’s Business Improvement District, it was a fitting farewell to summer.
