On day 35 of the Esports World Cup there were many more eliminations in the three titles. We summarize the results!

On this page you will find a summary of yesterday’s results as well as the games scheduled to start later today on Championship Sunday!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

It took a long time for a big upset to happen in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III event, but yesterday there was one in the quarterfinals. Despite winning maps 1 and 3, Toronto Ultra lost to 100 Thieves 3-2 and were eliminated from the tournament in 5th to 8th place.

The other results of Friday’s games were as many expected:

  • Vancouver Surge 3 – 2 Carolina Royal Ravens
  • Atlanta FaZe 3 – 0 Boston Breach
  • Optic Gaming 3 – 1 Cloud9

This sets up an incredibly interesting semifinal that will see OpTic Gaming take on Atlanta FaZe, renewing the intense rivalry between the two organizations. The other semifinal between 100 Thieves and Vancouver Surge will also begin immediately after to determine the finalists. Of course, the grand final itself will be the last series to take place on Championship Sunday!

EA Sports FC 24

Yesterday, too, the competition in EA Sports FC 24 was reduced to just 8 players as the group and resurrection stages were completed. One of the most entertaining games of yesterday was the last match of the day, where the last place in the playoffs was contested between ManuBachoore and Bonanno.

While the most outstanding match is often the most competitive, this was anything but that as ManuBachoore treated fans to a near-perfect performance. The stunning match ended 10-1 in favor of ManuBachoore, who qualified for the quarterfinals in style.

Here’s a look at the eight players who managed to advance, paired with their opponent in today’s single elimination playoff round:

  • jafonso (Luna Galaxy) vs. ManuBachoore (Team Liquid)
  • PHzin (Al-Ula FC) vs Mark11 (FUTWIZ)
  • Young (Tuzzy E-Sports) vs Vejrgang (RBLZ Gaming)
  • nicolas99fc (Cloud9) vs AbuMakkah (Team Falcons)

StarCraft II

In StarCraft II, there was still one spot left in the final four, as Dark, Serral and Clem had already booked their tickets. This would be played in a traditional knockout system, with best-of-three matches (BO3), with the exception of the final, which would be played in a best-of-five format (BO5).

A total of 15 matches were played yesterday, starting with 8 round of 16 matches until we reached the knockout finals where herO and Cure faced off. The last series of the day was a tough test as both participants had already played 3 matches. However, this did not affect the favorite herO, who managed to score a relatively comfortable 3-1 victory.

This means that the two semi-finals today will look like this:

  • Dark (Talon Esports) vs Serral (BASILISK)
  • Clem (Team Liquid) vs herO (Weibo Gaming)

Today is the final day of action across all three gaming titles as the first-ever Esports World Cup crowns champions and immortalizes them in history!
