Covered Bridge was the clear winner of the $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer at Red Shores Racetrack in Charlottetown on Saturday night.

It was the second consecutive Gold Cup victory for the eight-year-old horse, owned by Mark Ford of New York and ridden by Jordan Stratton.

“The first one was pretty much the best experience of my life and my racing career and this one is on par with it,” Stratton said after the race.

Around 20,000 fans attended the 65th edition of the event, which is considered the most prestigious harness race in Atlantic Canada.

“The fans here are just incredible,” Stratton said. “It’s so great to see harness racing supported by the local community.”
