Google engineer in Bengaluru talks about hair loss due to hard water – reactions on the Internet

Part of the internet has decided to highlight the humor of the situation.

A Bengaluru woman’s complaint of severe hair loss due to the city’s hard water has sparked a lively discussion on X. Initially, it was a conversation among people with similar problems in Bengaluru and other cities, but soon it took a humorous turn.

Amisha Aggarwal, a software engineer at Google, shared her experience with X on Saturday and said, “I have to switch to RO water in Bangalore to wash my hair, otherwise there will be nothing left. PS: If anyone has used a water softener/filter and seen results, please share the link.”

In response, Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair mentioned that he has retained full hair despite using Cauvery water. Aggarwal humorously speculated that perhaps her hair is not yet accustomed to the Bengaluru weather, adding that the water quality may vary depending on the source.

Others also spoke up and admitted that they had encountered similar problems.

“I also live in Bangalore where the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) level of water is 160-170 and the TDS level of filtered water is 50-60. This has affected my hair and caused premature greying. I believe that the well water in my hometown is the best as it contains natural minerals like calcium which is not comparable to filtered water,” wrote Sinfan (@Sinfan_). “In Bangalore, 50 percent of my hair fell out,” wrote one user.

“I use bottled water in Hyderabad. I swear cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad have huge water problems. Mumbai and even Guwahati never had this,” wrote Akshansh Mahendra (@akshansh_777). “I have a friend who is working on an integrated water softening solution for the shower head which is really incredibly innovative. He has several patents on it. He developed it because his wife was also suffering from hair loss. DM me and I will be happy to connect you,” wrote another user.

The third user wrote: “My wife installed a separate water purifier in the bathroom just for bathing. She says it’s the best 8k she invested on her hair. Livpure Glo Pro.”

Part of the internet has decided to highlight the humor of the situation.

“Being bald is part of the CTC, you just have to check it out,” joked one user.

“This beautiful receding hairline was a gift from Bangalore during my college days… I don’t regret my decision to study there though… it was beautiful back then,” commented another user.
