Five people held for five days in Arunachal Pradesh for kidnapping and gang rape of 13-year-old girl

Guwahati: Police in Arunachal Pradesh have arrested five youths for allegedly holding a 13-year-old girl captive and raping her for five days in Daporijo town in Upper Subansiri district.

Upper Subansiri District SP Thutan Jamba said DH On Sunday, the accused were arrested based on a recent complaint filed by the victim’s brother, who alleged that she was locked up for five days at Gandhi Market in Daporijo and subjected to gang rape.

The defendants, aged between 20 and 30, were interrogated during pre-trial detention and taken into custody, the SP said.

The accused were identified as Bai Kaji, Tapong Baring, Raju Lomdak, Jepu Leya and Nanesh Nayam.

“The victim was handed over to the family after medical examination,” said Jamba.

The accused has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), he said.

“All the accused were arrested within 24 hours of the registration of the FIR by the victim’s brother. All steps are being taken to conduct a proper investigation and ensure justice is done to the victim,” he said.

Assam teacher arrested for forcing teenagers to watch porn in classroom

A teacher of a public school in Karimganj district of South Assam has been booked under POCSO sections for allegedly forcing a minor student to watch pornography in the classroom.

The family members filed a complaint on August 12 after the girl told her mother about the incident. Local residents protested and even destroyed property on Saturday as the teacher fled.

The police said they had launched a manhunt for the accused.
