Geeta and Babita Phogat secretly made fun of their cousin Vinesh Phogat for not mentioning their uncle Mahavir Phogat in the public statement she made after the events at the Paris Olympics in India.

Mahavir’s omission from Vinesh’s thank you list following her heartbreaking disqualification in Paris sparked a series of cryptic posts from the sisters, adding another dramatic dimension to the wrestler’s Olympic setback.

Vinesh had shared an emotional message after she was disqualified for missing the weight limit by just 100 grams. While she thanked numerous people for their support, the absence of her uncle’s name did not go unnoticed and drew subtle yet fierce reactions from her family.

Geeta Phogat’s social media post, “The fruit of deception is deception”, was widely seen as a veiled criticism of Vinesh, while Geeta’s husband, Pawan Kumar Saroha, directly pointed out the omission and reminded Vinesh of Mahavir’s fundamental role in her career.

Despite the brewing family feud, Vinesh received a warm welcome on her return to India. Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia were among those who greeted her at the airport.

While disappointed with the outcome of the Olympics, Mahavir Phogat had expressed his continued support for Vinesh and urged them to look forward to the 2028 Olympics.

In her statement, Vinesh spoke about the personal and professional challenges she has faced, including the loss of her father and her mother’s battle with cancer.
