Shantanu removed as KMC health advisor

Kolkata: After his dismissal from the office of Spokesperson of Trinamool, Shantanu Sen was relieved on Saturday from his post as advisor to Municipality of Kolkata Ministry of Health. Sen was appointed as advisor KMC Ministry of Health on January 5, 2022. Sen was the second adviser to the ministry.
Sen’s wife Kakali, a Trinamool councillor (Ward 2), was also removed from the councillors’ WhatsApp group.
Shantanu Sen’s stance on the RG Kar rape-murder case is believed to have cost him his post in the KMC. “Whatever he said is contrary to our party stand. This has created a rift, perhaps for the moment, which has forced the civic leadership to remove him from his post,” said a KMC official.
On Saturday, it was found that his nameplate had been removed from his office in the Municipal Council Club. Mayor Firhad Hakim on Saturday refused to accept Sen as an advisor to the KMC. “We have only one Health Advisor (TK Mukherjee). I am not aware of Sen’s position as advisor in the KMC,” Hakim said.
Sen said he was appointed as an advisor to the health department in 2022, according to a circular issued by the former KMC secretary. “I have not received any official communication from the KMC. I still consider Mayor Firhad Hakim as my elder brother and a senior neta,” Sen said.
“I am a disciplined soldier of the party and will do my best to serve the people,” Kakali said.
