JT Thor agrees to a two-way contract with the Cavaliers

Former Hornets striker JT Thor signed a two-way contract with the Cavaliersreports Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link).

Thor, the 37th pick in the 2021 draft, spent the first three years of his career with the Hornets. He didn’t play a major role in Charlotte, but he did make a few appearances during his time with the franchise. In 165 games (11 starts; 12.2 MPG) with the Hornets from 2021-2024, he averaged 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds.

The former Auburn star turned heads in the 2021 draft after averaging 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 0.8 steals in his freshman season while getting to the three-point line as a 6’10” forward. At 21, he still has untapped potential.

Thor most recently impressed at the Olympics, playing for the South Sudanese national team, averaging around seven points and five rebounds for South Sudan.

Thor is the Cavs’ first reported two-way signing, giving them two more spots to fill. They have a two-way qualifying offer for Emoni Bateswho finished last season on a two-way contract with the team.
