Al-Hilal captain Salem Al-Dawsari rubbed more salt into Cristiano Ronaldo’s wounds by copying Lionel Messi’s celebration when he lifted the 2022 World Cup title.
Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr suffered a 4-1 defeat in the final of the Saudi Super Cup, but a brace from Aleksandar Mitrovic and goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Malcom sealed the victory for Al-Hilal.
Salem was obviously not satisfied with beating Ronaldo in the final, but wanted to go one better when the trophy was presented.
After receiving the trophy, Salem rocked from side to side as he passed in front of his teammates before lifting the silverware aloft.
It was an exact replica of what Messi did at the World Cup in Qatar, when he led Argentina to a thrilling penalty shootout victory over France in the final.

For Cristiano Ronaldo, it was a Saudi Super Cup final to forget as his team was crushed 4-1.

Messi slowly made his way to the front of the stage before lifting the trophy with his team.
As if copying Messi’s World Cup celebration wasn’t enough, Ronaldo also had to deal with Al-Hilal fans chanting the Argentine’s name when he was 4-1 down.
Al Hilal’s fourth goal of the evening also triggered an angry reaction from the 39-year-old.
Malcom had taken advantage of some careless passes from Al-Nassr in his own penalty area and scored a goal, after which Ronaldo gestured to his teammates that they had been “sleeping”.
Ronaldo’s frustration for the evening was not over yet, because after the game he headed straight for the exit.
This meant that the Portuguese superstar, who is also the figurehead of Saudi Arabian football, did not appear at the medal ceremony.
A victory in the Saudi Super Cup would have secured Ronaldo’s second title since his arrival in the Gulf state.
