Fighters Only: UFC 305 Embedded: Episode 6

UFC 305 takes place this Saturday (August 17) at the RAC Arena in Perth, with a major middleweight title fight as the highlight of the program.

In the main event, Dricus Du Plessis will travel to Australia to put his middleweight title on the line against two-time champion Israel Adesanya. Du Plessis took gold at 185 pounds in a five-round bout against Sean Strickland at UFC 297. The champion has had a perfect run since signing with the UFC and currently holds a promotional record of 7-0. After signing with the UFC in 2020, “Stillknocks” has added some big names to his resume, having defeated Darren Till and Robert Whittaker, among others.

UFC 305 will mark Adesanya’s first appearance in nearly a year. After winning the belt at UFC 243, “The Last Stylebender” seemed unbeatable as he defended the belt five times before facing long-time nemesis Alex Pereira at UFC 281. After a back-and-forth battle, “Poatan” defeated Adesanya by standing TKO in the fifth and final round. Adesanya took revenge five months later, becoming a two-time champion before losing the belt to Sean Strickland at UFC 293.

In the co-main event, Kai Kara-France will look to earn his first win since 2022 when he faces Steve Erceg. Kara-France has struggled to stay active as of late, competing just once in 2023 and twice in 2022. After winning three fights in a row, “Don’t Blink” faced Brandon Moreno at UFC 277. Unfortunately for the New Zealand native, Moreno landed a solid kick to the liver in the third round that sent him to the mat, after which the Mexican followed up with several punches to end the fight. In his last outing, Kara-France lost to Amir Albazi via split decision.

Steve Erceg also had to suffer a loss before entering the fight. “Astroboy” faced Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 301 earlier this year. When the fight was first announced, many fans were shocked that the 29-year-old was getting a title shot after only four fights in his UFC career. Erceg put on an impressive performance over the 25 minutes, but it wasn’t enough to win UFC gold.

The entire card is packed with Australian and New Zealand talent including Dan Hooker, Tai Tuivasa and Justin Tafa. Hooker will face an in-form Mateusz Gamrot, Tuivasa will face a tough challenge in Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Justin Tafa will look to get back to winning ways against Valter Walker.

Leading up to the event, UFC’s embedded cameras will follow fighters behind the scenes as they work their way through fight week, from their arrival in Perth and their pre-fight media obligations, to the weigh-ins and final face-offs before fight night.

As featured on the UFC’s official YouTube channel, Episode 6 sees Jingliang explore Caversham Wildlife Park while Kai Kara-France, Israel Adesanya and Tai Tuivasa complete their weight-cut preparations for the weigh-in at UFC 305. The stars of UFC 305 all make weight and face off, setting the stage for an epic showdown in Perth.
