Top Gun: Maverick is, as expected, a box office smash, leaving fans talking endlessly about the two-hour flick, but perhaps no moment has garnered as much attention as a moment when Miles Teller is shirtless and wearing sunglasses and you miss it.

A clip of the 35-year-old actor dancing topless on the beach is without a doubt the most viral moment from the Top Gun reboot. It’s a moment that literally lasts less than a second during a sunset football montage. Still, fans love the carefree, celebratory boogie Teller does in the sand while playing football.

But capturing the dance on film was a total coincidence

In a recent interview with Extra, Teller talked about the split-second clip going viral on social media. Teller, who plays Rooster in the film, says he didn’t even expect that moment to be in the movie, calling it a “nice surprise” that his impromptu dance was featured in the final cut.

“It’s really a dance that me and my buddies did when everyone was dancing very seriously. It was just always something we did to break the ice a little bit,” Teller told Extra. “I didn’t even know the camera was on me at that point.”

Fortunately, the cameras were rolling, so the now iconic moment was captured on film forever.
