Will there be a second season of “My Lady Jane” on Prime Video?

If you haven’t watched yet My Lady Jane, You’re missing out on one of the best shows of 2024 – horseman and all. The romantic Prime Video series mixes real people and events from the 16th century, shamelessly throws a bit of therianthropy into the mix, and serves up a red-hot historical reinvention.

This concoction is garnished with sayings from an off-screen narrator, spoken by Oliver Chris, who often tries to explain the strange, gross and unfamiliar details that are specific to the series’ characters and their ahistorical Tudor background. But perhaps My Lady JaneThe biggest attraction is the chemistry between the leading actresses Emily Bader, who plays Lady Jane Grey, and Edward Bluemel, her “ethian” husband, Lord Guildford Dudley. Together they belong in a kissing montage next toThe Notebook Good.

After so much happened in Season 1 – dolphin heads on a platter, bloodthirsty older sisters with poor hygiene and daddy complexes, brooding bad boys with trauma-induced shapeshifting habits – we can’t wait for another season of My Lady Jane. One pressing question remains: Will our desire for a continuation of the show, like Lord Guildford Dudley’s human form, ever come to fruition? That’s what we know so far.

Will there be a My Lady Jane Season 2?

Unfortunately no.

This is pretty shocking news: The first season received an overwhelmingly positive consensus from critics, scoring 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. There was considerable viral fan chatter on X (formerly known as Twitter) in its favor, and My Lady Jane caused quite a stir. Creator and co-showrunner Gemma Burgess commented in an interview with Weekly entertainmentand teased, “(Season 2) is always a possibility.”

But in August 2024 Deadline reported that the series will not be renewed. The decision was announced about seven weeks after the first season was released on the streaming platform. Despite its popularity among fans, it reportedly failed to gain a large enough viewer base.

What would My Lady Jane What was season 2 about?

Although season 1 of My Lady Jane has apparently exhausted its source material – the first book in The Lady Janie’s Series by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows – Burgess reveals To Weekly entertainment that if there was a second season, the series would expand on the world of the first season and paint a picture of the characters “growing up and moving on and figuring out how to survive in a world where Jane is free but the kingdom is not. Because Mary is still on the throne. There’s still a lot of work to do before everything is OK.”

Rising star Emily Bader agrees and revealed in an interview with Collider that she hoped her Elizabeth Bennet-meets-Blondie-inspired Jane would have a chance to sort out her situation next season. “By choosing to save herself at the end, Jane puts her family in danger,” she says. “They’re all still with Crazy Mary. She feels a lot of responsibility… I think tough Jane can take it to the next level.”

Although the series ended with room for a sequel, it offered a satisfying conclusion to the love story on which it was based.

This story will be updated.
