After Perry’s death in October 2023, autopsy results revealed that illegally administered ketamine was the primary cause. According to Rolling Stone, newly released court documents provide new details about the investigation, which concluded that Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa administered the actor his fatal dose of ketamine. According to the documents, Perry told Iwamasa to “shoot me with a big“, and after asking for the injection, he allegedly told his assistant: “prepare the whirlpool.” The assistant then administered the ketamine to Perry while the actor was “in or near the hot tub,” after which Iwamasa left the house to run errands. Lisa Kudrow says rewatching episodes of “Friends” is her special way of honoring the memory of co-star Matthew Perry.

Prosecutors say Perry was injected with ketamine at approximately 8:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on the day of his death. Iwamasa, who was arrested for his involvement, shared new details about what happened that day in response to a deal made in response to a guilty plea. Iwamasa claimed Perry asked him to come to court in September 2023, a month before the Friends Death of the star. The assistant is said to have agreed in exchange for financial compensation.

It is further alleged that Iwamasa spent around $55,000 of Perry’s fortune to purchase ketamine from Dr. Salvador and Plasencia, as well as Jasveen Sangha, who was known as the “Ketamine Queen.” Both were also arrested during the investigation, while other identified suspects were charged, including Eric Fleming and Dr. Mark Chavez. Investigators say the defendants conspired to take advantage of Perry’s known addiction issues and knowingly risked the actor’s health just to gain financially.
