Girl group Fiestar have reunited to release a remake of their song on Saturday, the 12th anniversary of their debut.
This will be the first time the group has released music since disbanding six years ago.
The group’s return was announced on member Cao Lu’s YouTube channel at midnight on Wednesday, with all five members of the group appearing in the video.
“We still met, but I didn’t think it would be possible to record albums or rehearse together,” said member Yel. “Cao Lu did a good job of bringing us together.”
“It was always my dream to bring us together,” said Cao Lu. The member said she bought back the rights to the girl group’s 2015 song “You’re pitiful” with money she earned from e-commerce in China.
“I thought about buying a whole new song, but I regretted ‘You’re pitiful’ a little,” the member said. Fiestar will release a remake of the song with a new arrangement.
The five-member group debuted with their first single “Vista” in 2012. After releasing their digital single “Apple Pie” in 2016, Fiestar disbanded in 2018 when all members terminated their contracts with the girl group’s then-agency, FAVE Entertainment.
