Southwest to launch nonstop flights from Tucson to Sacramento next year

Travelers from Tucson will have a new opportunity to fly nonstop to Sacramento next March, as Southwest Airlines plans to introduce a nonstop weekend flight to the Californian capital.

Saturday and Sunday flights to Sacramento International Airport begin March 8 and can be booked now through Southwest.com or Flytucson.com.

Earlier this summer, Alaska Airlines announced that it would begin offering seasonal daily nonstop flights between Tucson Airport and Sacramento from January through mid-April.

Danette Bewley, president and CEO of the Tucson Airport Authority, said the authority is pleased to have two options for local travelers to fly to Sacramento as it continues to work to attract new air service to Tucson.
