Some customers in Burlington will have to do without water for several hours on Thursday evening
As part of a planned power outage, several water customers in Burlington will experience service outages for several hours between Thursday night and Friday morning, August 30.
Burlington city officials said water services plan to shut off service beginning at 10:30 p.m. Thursday to replace a water main.
The planned water shutoff is part of a state Department of Transportation water main project along Highway 70, Burlington city officials said in a press release.
The duration of the service interruption is currently expected to be between four and six hours.
The affected area includes approximately four to five homes along a section of U.S. Highway 70 in Burlington that runs from University Drive to Stoney Creek.
However, Burlington city officials said the power outage could also affect connections to the line in several other nearby areas.
These include: Gibsonville, Whitsett, the Verona settlement, Springwood Park and surrounding areas, and the Ashley Woods (Gibsonville) and Brightwood Farms settlements. The outage could also affect anyone connected to the water main along Highway 70, city officials said. Affected water customers can call (336) 516-6525 for more information or questions.
