Caitlin Clark had the last laugh after Dijonai Carrington mocked Fever fans
The Indiana Fever earned an important home win against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night, led by Kelsey Mitchell with 23 points and Caitlin Clark with 19 points.
During the game, Sun forward Dijonai Carrington made a big throw and attempted to silence the Fever fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. While backing away on defense to her half of the court, Carrington could be seen putting her finger to her mouth, seemingly silencing the Indiana fans.
Clark didn’t let that deter her. She took the ball and attacked the basket, dribbling right past Carrington’s left side and charging to the basket for a quick layup.
Carrington quickly took her finger from her mouth and went into a defensive stance, but it was too little and too late, as Clark went left and was able to throw the contested layup into the wall.
Ultimately, it was Clark and Fever fans who had the last laugh Wednesday night. The 84-80 victory was their fourth win in five games since returning from the Olympic break, and the team improved to 15-16 on the year, putting them very much in the running for the WNBA playoffs.
